Uninterruptible power supplies
Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) are used for critical applications where a failure of the mains supply, however brief, is unacceptable. Computer systems are a good example of such an application as are critical control systems, life support systems, etc. A local source of energy must be available in order to continue to supply the load in cases of the failure of the incoming mains supply. In the case of large installations, say a hospital, this is likely to be the fuel supply to a standby diesel generator set. However, these lie outside the scope of this text.
Power Sonic PS series of sealed lead acid batteries have been designed with AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology to ensure superior performance and reliability. The PS series has been specifically engineered for use in general purpose float and light cyclic applications including fire and security systems, emergency lighting, UPS, toys and medical devices.
